Buffet Dinner at Kojunsha, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 (19:00 - 21:00)

This will be our third visit to Kojunsha, a private club founded in 1880 by Yukichi Fukuzawa. Our event will be held in the Chu-Shokudo. Kojunsha is located in Ginza 6-chome; directions will be sent to those who sign up.

Members are welcome to invite one guest each (more than one in the case of family members).

This event will be attended by the President of the Cambridge Union, James Hutt (Pembroke), and the Debating Officerof the Cambridge Union, Muhammad Asadullah Khan (Trinity).

Attendance fee: 7,500 yen (payable in advance)
Dress code: jacket and tie

Please note that the event starts at 19:00 and not 18:30.

Joint event with the Japan Stanford Association - drinks, buffet and music at Slainte, March 9 (Wed), 19:00 - 22:00

This will be our first joint event with the Japan Stanford Association, for which we have booked one of our regular haunts, Slainte (4-5-21 Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 150-0013). Along with food, wine and stimulating conversation, we will also be treated to 30 minutes or so of vocal entertainment by Ms Kei Takayanagi.

Attendance fee: 4,000 yen (includes buffet, drinks and music

Dress code: none

Please note that the event begins at 19:00 rather than at our usual starting time of 18:30.


Buffet Dinner at Armani Ristorante Wine Lounge, February 29 (Mon), 18:30 - 21:00

Our first main event of 2016 will be a relaxing evening of delicious food and wine at Armani Ristorante Wine Lounge in Ginza (Armani Ginza Tower 10F, 5-5-4 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 104-0061).

Attendance fee: 7,000 yen (includes buffet and all drinks)
Payment is required in advance; account details will be sent to those who apply to attend. No refunds for those who sign up but do not attend, or who cancel after the closing date (Feb. 25).

Dress code: smart casual

Dinner at Tokyo Club in Honour of Lord Smith of Finsbury, Master of Pembroke College Cambridge, April 4, 2016 (18:30 - 21:00)

We are delighted to welcome Lord Smith of Finsbury, Master of Pembroke College Cambridge, to a five-course seated dinner at The Tokyo Club. Lord Smith has kindly agreed to speak after dinner.

Members are welcome to invite one guest.

Members who would like to attend this dinner should let Tim Minton know (t.minton[at]camford[dot]org) by March 30th.

Dress code: jacket and tie (required by Tokyo Club rules)
Attendance fee: 8,000 yen (Payment is required in advance; account details will be sent to those who apply to attend. Those who cancel after the deadline [March 30th] or fail to show up will not be refunded.)


Christmas Party at Hotel New Otani, December 14, 2015 (18:30 - 21:00)

If you would like to join us for an evening of merriment at what is, for C&O, a new venue, please let Tim Minton know (t.minton[at]camford[dot]org) by December 10th. Members are welcome to invite one guest each.

Attendance fees: members 9,000 yen, guests 12,000 yen
Payment is required in advance; account details will be sent to those who apply to attend. No refunds for no-shows or cancellations after December 10th.

Dress code: lounge suits


Wine Tasting, Offices of Berry Brothers and Rudd, October 7, 2015 (18:30 - 21:00)

This tasting will take the form of a contest between France and the New World, with a total of 10 wines on offer. A buffet will also be provided.

The offices of Berry Brothers and Rudd are near Takebashi and Otemachi stations. Directions will be sent to those who sign up.

The event is for C&O members only.

Attendance fee: 8,000 yen (payable in advance by bank transfer)
Dress code: none

Party for New Oxbridge Students, Armani Ristorante (Ginza), September 14, 2015 (18:30 – 21:00)

The main purpose of this event is to give new students (both undergraduates and graduates) going up to Oxford or Cambridge for the 2015/2016 academic year an opportunity to meet members of The Cambridge & Oxford Society and, in the process, gain a few useful tips on how to prepare for the experience. C&O members and new students will be able to chat informally while enjoying drinks and excellent Italian cuisine from an extensive buffet selection.

The party will be held at the fashionable Armani Ristorante in Ginza (Armani Ginza Tower 10F, 5-5-4 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 104-0061; http://www.armani-ristorante.jp/ristorante/shopinfo.html) and is open only to members of C&O and students starting at Oxford or Cambridge in the autumn of 2015, although members and new students alike are welcome to invite one guest each. Please note that we will check with the universities the bone fides of all non-C&O members who apply to attend.

Dinner Show with the Oxford Gargoyles, International House of Japan, July 1, 2015 (18:30 - 21:00)

Join us for a seated dinner at the International House of Japan with a cappella entertainment provided by the Oxford Gargoyles. The dinner will be held in the Kabayama Room, which is the one we use for our Christmas Parties.

This event has been organised jointly with the Japan-British Society.

Attendance fees: members 9,000 yen, guests 10,000 yen

Triennial General Meeting, The Tokyo Club, Wednesday June 24, 2015 (18:00 - 21:00)

The Triennial General Meeting will be chaired by our President, Mr Tim Hitchens. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and is likely to last 30 or 40 minutes. It will be followed by a seated dinner starting around 7 o’clock, the cost of which will be subsidised by the Society for those who attend the GM. Drinks will be served in the interim. This event is for members only.

Members who would like to attend this event should contact Tim Minton (t.minton[at]camford[dot]org) by Friday, 19th June. Members may, of course, attend the General Meeting without attending the dinner (and without charge), but to comply with Tokyo Club’s rules we still require advance notice of intention to attend. Members may also opt to attend the dinner without attending the GM, but anyone who chooses this option will be charged the full per-person cost of the dinner.

Attendance fees (to be paid in advance; account details will be sent to those attending): GM only: 0 yen, GM + Dinner: 5,000 yen, Dinner only: 8,000 yen
No-show/late cancellation charges will be 8,000 yen (except for those who sign up for the GM only).
