June 21 (Thu): "Gokurosama Party" in honour of Mr T. Nakamura, Kojunsha (18:30 - 21:00)

This event has been cancelled.

Mr Teruhisa Nakamura retired from the C&O committee at the Triennial General Meeting in April. This party is to thank him for over 30 years of devoted service to the Society.

Members wishing to attend this key event in the Society’s calendar are requested to apply to Tim Minton (t.minton[at]camford[dot]org) by Friday, 18th May. Please supply both your surname and first name (with kanji if applicable), together with those of your guest if you intend to bring one.

If the number of applicants exceeds the number of places available, precedence will be given to those who have supported the Society by taking part in other events over the last year. For this reason, acknowledgements will not be sent until 21st May.

Buffet Dinner, Ark Hills Club, Thursday March 22nd (18:30 - 21:00)

The dinner will be held in the Club's Continental Dining Room, by kind arrangement of Mr Sadaaki Numata.

Ark Hills Club is on the 37th floor of the East Wing of the Ark Mori Building, which is next to the ANA Intercontinental Hotel in Akasaka. The closest subway station is Tameike Sanno on the Ginza and Namboku Lines. Detailed directions will be sent to those attending. Christmas Party, The International House of Japan, December 13, 2011 (18:00 - 21:00)

Our annual Christmas Party will be held, as usual, in The International House of Japan's Kabayama Room.

The closest subway station to IHJ is Azabu Juban (5 minutes’ walk), but access is also easy from Roppongi (12 minutes’ walk). A map can be found at http://www.i-house.or.jp/jp/

This dinner replaces the one planned at the New Sanno Hotel on November 17. It will be C&O's first event at Century Court, which is in the basement of Meiji Semei-kan in Marunouchi. Directions will be sent to those who sign up.

Lecture by Dr Barak Kushner, International House of Japan, Friday, July 22 (18:00 - 20:00)

Dr Barak Kushner, Cambridge University Lecturer in Japanese History and Fellow of Corpus Christi College, will deliver a talk on the following subject:

What happened to Japanese soldiers in postwar China and
what did the Chinese do to them?

The talk will be followed by a Q&A session and drinks.

Attendance fee: 2,000 yen (payable in cash on arrival)
