Buffet Dinner at Mitsubishi Club, Friday July 3, 2009, 18:00 - 21:00

Mr Buhei Okumura has again kindly arranged for members and their guests to be treated to a buffet dinner at Mitsubishi Club. The event will take place on Friday, 3rd July, starting at 18:00 rather than the usual 18:30. Mitsubishi Club is on the 21st floor of the Mitsubishi Shoji Building in Marunouchi. Detailed directions will be sent to those who sign up.

Attendance fee: 8,000 yen inclusive

Black-tie dinner to celebrate Cambridge University’s 800th anniversary, Saturday June 13, 2009, Hotel Okura

Seated Full-course Dinner, Akebono-no-ma, 19:45 - 21:45

Aperitifs and Dinner only: 10,000 yen
Aperitifs, Dinner and After-Dinner Drinks: 15,000 yen

Full payment is required in advance; the Society’s bank account details will be sent to those who apply. There will be no refunds for late cancellers or no-shows, who will in addition be charged for the Society's subsidy paid on their behalf (around 50%).

Early Summer Party at the British Ambassador's Residence, Wednesday, May 13 (18:30 – 21:00)

Members are invited to an Early Summer Party kindly hosted by the Society’s President and British Ambassador to Japan, Mr David Warren, and Mrs Pamela Warren.

Footage of the 2009 Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race will be shown at 20:30.

Attendance fee: 5,000 yen per person (payment required in advance; the Society’s bank account details will be sent to those who apply). No-shows will not be refunded.

Dress code: lounge suits

Each member may invite one guest. If you would like to attend, please contact Tim Minton (t.minton[at]camford[dot]org) by May 6th, stating which college/university you attended and providing your telephone and fax numbers. Please note that the number of applications we can accept is limited; early replies are recommended.


Triennial General Meeting and Dinner, Tokyo Club, Thursday, April 16, 18:00 – 21:00

The Society’s Constitution stipulates that a General Meeting should be held triennially. Members are encouraged to attend this important event in the Society’s programme and to remind themselves of the provisions of the Constitution, which may be viewed on this website.

The meeting, to be chaired by the Society's President, Mr David Warren, will be held at The Tokyo Club, starting at 6 p.m. Drinks and a seated dinner will follow.

This event is open to members only.

Attendance fees (to be paid in advance; account details will be sent to those attending):
GM only: 0 yen; GM + Dinner: 3,000 yen; Dinner only: 8,000 yen
No-show/late cancellation charges will be 8,000 yen, except for those who sign up for the GM only.

Oxbridge vs. Waseda University Boxing Match followed by a Reception at the Rihga Royal Hotel, Saturday, April 4

An Oxbridge vs. Waseda Varsity Boxing Match will be held at Waseda University from 11:30 to 15:30 (doors open at 11:00). This will be followed by a reception at the Rihga Royal Hotel (17:30 – 19:30).

Both events are free of charge; please note that only the first 25 applications to attend the reception can be accepted. Members are welcome to bring guests to the match, but the reception is open only to members.

Reception for combined Oxford & Cambridge Rugby Team, March 23, 2009 (18:30 - 21:00)/Rugby Matches on March 22 and 28

Information about this event has been sent to members. If you would like to attend, please reply by Wednesday, March 18 to Tim Minton: tdminton[at]gmail[dot]com rather than the usual Camford e-mail address. Please note that we can accept only 35 applications to attend this event.

The team will be playing matches against All Kanto Gakuin (14:00, Sunday, March 22nd) All Keio (14:00, Saturday, March 28th) at Mitsuzawa Stadium, Yokohama
(www.wldcup.com/Asia/stadia/mitsuzawa.html). We have reserved blocks of seats for both matches. If you would like to join us, please contact Tim Minton by 20th for the match against Kanto Gakuin, and by 26th for the match against Keio.

Tickets for each match are 2,000 yen (payable on the day); details will be sent to those who sign up.


Guided tour of the Mori Art Museum's exhibition Chalo! India, drinks in the Mado Lounge and dinner at Bali Café Putri

The Mori Art Museum is located on the 53rd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, and the Mado Lounge is one floor below. Bali Café Putri is in Roppongi Hills Hillside (B1), which is adjacent to the Mori Tower.

Charges
Museum entry: 1,000 yen (normal admission fee: 1,500 yen); this includes access to the Sky Deck on the roof of the Mori Tower
Mado Lounge: cash bar
Dinner: 5,000 yen
(Late cancellers and no-shows will be charged for any expenses incurred on their behalf by the Society.)

Christmas Party, International House of Japan, Monday, December 15th, 18:30 - 21:00

Members and their guests are invited to join us for our annual Christmas Party in The International House of Japan's Kabayama Room (樺山ルーム), which opens onto the House's renowned garden.

Access: the closest subway station is Azabu Juban (5 minutes’ walk), but access is also easy from Roppongi (12 minutes’ walk). A map can be found at http://www.i-house.or.jp/jp/
