Joint Reception with the Harvard Club for the Choir of Corpus Christi College Oxford, Shinsei Bank, June 26

Dinner for gourmets at Privé de Lien (Ikejiri Ohashi), Thursday, July 19 (18:30 - )

The list for this event is already full, but members are welcome to sign themselves up for inclusion on the waiting list.

The last event for the first half of this year will be an 8-course gourmet dinner in the recently opened annex of Lien, a small French restaurant near Ikejiri Ohashi Station. The annex, Privé de Lien, is even smaller than the main restaurant, and although we have booked the whole place on July 19th, we will only be able to accommodate 16 people.

Members who wish to attend this dinner should contact Tim Minton (t.minton[at]camford[dot]org) by July 16th, bearing in mind that all of the places will almost certainly have been taken long before this date!


Early Summer Party, British Ambassador's Residence, Wednesday, June 20 (18:30 - 21:00)

This event is now full, but members are still welcome to register themselves for inclusion on the waiting list.

Our main June event, the annual Early Summer Party, will be held on Wednesday, June 20th (18:30 – 21:00) at the British Ambassador’s Residence and hosted by the Society’s President and British Ambassador to Japan, HE Paul Madden CMG.

Applications to attend will be accepted only via the online registration form available at the URL distributed by email to C&O members on May 15th, but enquiries may be addressed to Tim Minton (t.minton[at]camford[dot]org).


Triennial General Meeting and Dinner, The Tokyo Club, Thursday April 19, 2018 (18:00 - 21:00)

The Triennial General Meeting will be chaired by our President, Mr Paul Madden. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and is likely to last 30 or 40 minutes. It will be followed by a seated dinner starting around 7 o’clock, the cost of which will be subsidised by the Society for those who attend the GM. Drinks will be served in the interim. This event is for members only.

Members who would like to attend this event should contact Tim Minton (t.minton[at]camford[dot]org) by Monday, April 16. Members may, of course, attend the General Meeting without attending the dinner (and without charge), but to comply with Tokyo Club’s rules we still require advance notice of intention to attend. Members may also opt to attend the dinner without attending the GM, but anyone who chooses this option will be charged the full per-person cost of the dinner.

Attendance fees (to be paid in advance; account details will be sent to those attending): GM only: 0 yen, GM + Dinner: 5,000 yen, Dinner only: 8,000 yen
No-show/late cancellation charges will be 8,000 yen (except for those who sign up for the GM only).


Buffet Dinner at Kōjunsha in Honour of Professor Geoffrey Grimmett, Wednesday, March 28, 2018 (19:00 - 21:00)

Our March event will be a buffet dinner in honour of Professor Geoffrey Grimmett, the Master of Downing College, Cambridge. The dinner will be held at Kōjunsha (交詢社), one of Tokyo's premier private clubs, which was founded in 1880 by Yukichi Fukuzawa. This will be our sixth visit to the Club in as many years. It is located in Ginza 6-chome; directions will be sent to those who sign up.

Attendance fee: 7,500 yen (Payment is required in advance by bank transfer; the Society's bank account details will be sent to those who sign up; no-shows and those who cancel after the deadline [March 19th] will be charged.)
Dress code: jacket and tie

Buffet Dinner at Trader Vic’s, Hotel New Ōtani, February 27, 2018 (18:00 - 21:00)

The main event for February will be a casual buffet dinner at Trader Vic’s in the Hotel New Ōtani (www.newotani.co.jp/en/tokyo/restaurant/vics/), where we have booked the Cabin Room for our exclusive use. Join us for an evening of plentiful international cuisine in a tropical atmosphere. Ideal for February!

Members who would like to attend this event should contact Tim Minton (t.minton[at]camford[dot]org) by Friday, February 23rd. Members may invite one guest each.

Christmas Party at the International House of Japan, Tuesday, December 19 (18:30 - 21:00)

Our Christmas Party will be held as usual in the Kabayama Room (樺山ルーム) at the International House of Japan.

If you would like to attend this event, please apply to Tim Minton (t.minton[at]camford[dot]org) by Friday, December 15th. Members are welcome to invite one guest each (no restriction in the case of immediate family members).

The first main event of the Second Half will be a buffet dinner in honour of Professor Karen O’Brien, who has recently been appointed Head of Humanities at Oxford. The dinner will be held at Kojunsha (交詢社), one of Tokyo’s premier private clubs, which was founded in 1880 by Yukichi Fukuzawa. This will be our fifth visit to the Club in as many years.
