Our last event of the first half (January to July) will be a seated 4-course dinner at The Tokyo Club together with members of Brown University Club of Japan and Yale Club of Japan.

Our Early Summer Party will be held this year at Tsunamachi Mitsui Club (www.tsunamachimitsuiclub.co.jp/), a private club for senior members of the Mitsui Group, which is housed in an ornate 1913 mansion designed by British architect Josiah Conder (1852 – 1920). It was originally built as the Mitsui family’s guesthouse.

Starting at 18:00, the Society's 2024 Triennial General Meeting will be chaired by Mr Emil Levendoğlu, Minister and Deputy Head of Mission, British Embassy. It will be followed by a seated dinner at 19:00.

Our April 2024 event will take the form of a seated dinner at a regular venue of ours, the International House of Japan. We are delighted to welcome Professor Dani Prieto-Alhambra (Professor of Pharmaco- and Device Epidemiology; Section Lead, Health Data Sciences, Botnar Research Centre; University of Oxford) to this event, especially as he has kindly agreed to say a few words after dinner.

Mr Teruhisa (Terry) Nakamura, C&O’s previous Representative Honorary Secretary, passed away at the age of 86 on February 12th. His funeral was attended only by family members, but we will be holding a memorial event for him at The Tokyo Club on Tuesday, 2nd April (18:00 – 20:00). Drinks and a light buffet will be served.

Our November event will be a small drinks party in a private room belonging to The Imperial Lounge Aqua (on the 17th floor of the Imperial Hotel), at which we will be able to accommodate only 20 people.
The attendance fee of 10,000 yen includes free flow of drinks and a small selection of food.

The October event will be a seated dinner at The Tokyo Club to welcome Professor Roger Goodman to Japan. Professor Goodman is the Warden of St Antony’s College Oxford and Nissan Professor of Modern Japanese Studies; he has kindly agreed to give a short after-dinner talk at this event.
