110th Anniversary Dinner celebration at Hotel Okura

Now well into the second century since the historic founding of The Cambridge & Oxford Society, Tokyo, on the evening of Saturday 28th March, over 130 members and guests gathered at Hotel Okura for the Society’s 110th Anniversary Dinner celebration.

As at the previous dinners for the Society’s 100th Anniversary and Cambridge University 900th Anniversary, we were again honoured by the presence of HIH Princess Takamado (Girton, Cambridge 1972).

On the evening of Saturday, 22nd March 2025, 158 members and guests of The Cambridge & Oxford Society gathered at the Imperial Hotel to celebrate the Society’s 120th anniversary.

Visit to 'Wine Dining' restaurant Oenophilia in Meguro, April 2025

Oenophilia Wine Dining Event – April 2025

In April 2025, the Cambridge & Oxford Society of Japan returned to Oenophilia in Meguro. This gourmet “Wine Dining” restaurant was first visited in September 2024 and proved so popular that a second event was arranged. It was also the first Society event held since Naoko Miyazaki-san succeeded Tim Minton as President during the 120th Anniversary celebrations.

Our main June event is a seated 5-course dinner on Tuesday 20th at the International House of Japan (https://www.i-house.or.jp/eng/), one of C&O’s most popular venues. Drinks will be served at 18:30, and dinner will start at 1900.

Attendance fee: 8,000 yen (subsidized rate)
Dress code: jacket and tie

Buffet Dinner at Kojunsha in honour of Professor Karen O’Brien, Monday, September 4, 2017 (19:00 - 21:00)

The first main event of the Second Half will be a buffet dinner in honour of Professor Karen O’Brien, who has recently been appointed Head of Humanities at Oxford. The dinner will be held at Kojunsha (交詢社), one of Tokyo’s premier private clubs, which was founded in 1880 by Yukichi Fukuzawa. This will be our fifth visit to the Club in as many years. It is located in Ginza 6-chome; directions will be sent to those who sign up.

Attendance fee: 7,500 yen (Payment is required in advance by bank transfer; the Society’s bank account details will be sent to those who sign up; no-shows and those who cancel after the deadline [August 27th] will be charged.)

Dress code: jacket and tie

Our Christmas Party will be held as usual in the Kabayama Room (樺山ルーム) at the International House of Japan.

If you would like to attend this event, please apply to Tim Minton (t.minton[at]camford[dot]org) by Friday, December 15th. Members are welcome to invite one guest each (no restriction in the case of immediate family members).

Dress code: as you like (within reason)
Attendance fee: 8,000 yen
