This event replaces the one originally scheduled at Kojunsha on June 21 to thank Mr Teruhisa Nakamura for over 30 years of devoted service to the Society. It will take the form of a buffet Dinner at Mitsubishi Club, which is on the 21st floor of Mitsubishi Shoji Building, 2-3-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. Directions will be sent to those who sign up.

The main June event will be held at one of our favourite venues, the French restaurant Nambu-tei (南部亭) in Hibiya Park. This will be our twelfth visit to Nambu-tei. As always, we will have exclusive use of the ground floor and terrace. The main November event is a party to offer somewhat belated congratulations to HIH Princess Takamado (Girton Cambridge) on the PhD she received from Osaka University of Arts in February this year for her research on netsuke.

The party will be held on Friday, 16th November at Hillside Banquet Pachon (www.pachon.co.jp/), which is part of the restaurant complex owned and run by Monsieur André Pachon in Daikanyama. Following a champagne toast, an extensive French buffet will be served together with wine and other drinks.

Visit to Oedo Onsen Monogatari, Followed by a Barbecue in Odaiba Kaihin Park

A visit to Odaiba Oedo Onsen Monogatari formed part of the programme for the Centenary celebrations in 2005. The structure houses a selection of different pools with various mineral compositions, as well as an outdoor pool. There are separate areas for ladies and gentlemen, and an amusing Edo-style theme restaurant area inside the complex adds to the fun. The Onsen visit will be followed by a catered barbecue in Kaihin Park, which overlooks Rainbow Bridge. This part of the programme will begin at around 4.30 p.m., but details will be sent to those who apply to attend.

Our annual Christmas Party will be held, as usual, in The International House of Japan's Kabayama Room.

An Oxbridge vs. Waseda Varsity Boxing Match will be held at Waseda University from 11:30 to 15:30 (doors open at 11:00). This will be followed by a reception at the Rihga Royal Hotel (17:30 – 19:30).

Both events are free of charge; please note that only the first 25 applications to attend the reception can be accepted. Members are welcome to bring guests to the match, but the reception is open only to members.
