Dinner at the Mitsubishi Club – September 2013

On Wednesday, 25th September, we were very kindly invited to the exclusive Mitsubishi Club in Marunouchi.

The Mitsubishi Club was founded in April 1973 by the 28 members of the Friday Club — the core companies of the Mitsubishi Group — to commemorate the centenary of the Group’s foundation. These 28 companies include many well-known Japanese industrial names such as Mitsubishi Corporation, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Nikon, and Asahi Glass, to name only a few.

Guests gathered at the Mitsubishi Club in Marunouchi.

The Mitsubishi Club can only be used by the board members of these 28 core Mitsubishi Group companies for celebrations and special occasions — and by virtually no-one else. The Cambridge & Oxford Society is therefore deeply honoured to have been welcomed as guests through the kind invitation and arrangements of Buhei Okumura (Trinity, Cambridge).

Located at the top of Mitsubishi Corporation’s headquarters, the Club offers spectacular views over Marunouchi and the Imperial Palace Gardens.

Feeling honoured by this exquisite venue, we were delighted by the strong turnout and pleased to welcome several new members: Gregory Hadley (Kellogg, Oxford), Dong Gyoon (Hans) Hyun (St John’s, Cambridge), James Nepaulsingh (Keble, Oxford), and returnee Yasui Hayashi (Christ Church, Oxford).
